The Vancouver Convention Centre Selected as one of the Host Venues for the Invictus Games 2025 in Vancouver and Whistler
April 22nd, 2022 / NewsApril 22, 2022 (Vancouver, BC) – The Vancouver Convention Centre is pleased to have been selected as one of the host venues for the Invictus Games 2025 in Vancouver and Whistler.
Earlier today, the Duke of Sussex, Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation, announced that after a competitive process, the bid for the Invictus Games 2025 had been awarded to Vancouver and Whistler, in partnership with the True Patriot Love Foundation.
“Together with the True Patriot Love Foundation, the Government of Canada, the Province of B.C., First Nations in Vancouver and Whistler, and the municipalities of Vancouver and Whistler, the Vancouver Convention Centre is excited to help bring the Invictus spirit to Vancouver,” said Ken Cretney, President and CEO of BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo) which oversees the the Vancouver Convention Centre. “The Invictus Games inspires communities worldwide, leveraging the power of sports to generate a wider understanding and respect for those who serve their country. We are incredibly honoured to be a part of that legacy.”
For the first time in the history of the Invictus Games, adaptive winter sports, including alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, skeleton and wheelchair curling, will be added to the program. This is in addition to the core Invictus Games sports of indoor rowing, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair rugby and wheelchair basketball. Details of where each sport will be held will be available as the Games approach.
